The Center for Psychological Health and The Center for Family and Lifespan Development’s intention is to help children and adults develop a strong foundation for success through accurate assessments and to support our community through creating intervention plans that have lasting results. At The Center for Psychological Health, we provide continuity of care, and are happy to offer referrals to other professionals we work with in the community.

Who Do We See?

Many of the families who come to The Center for Psychological Health and The Center for Family and Lifespan Development’s are frustrated because they’ve had numerous diagnoses in the past or received limited feedback that doesn’t fit with the difficulties they’re experiencing in their lives. In addition, they feel that other practitioners have a set view of the problem, but don’t ask the right questions or thoroughly explain to them how they reach their conclusions.

Others we see have never had a formal diagnosis, but have people in their immediate family, teachers, pediatricians, physicians, or other therapists suggest concerns, or recommend formal assessment to identify if a clinical concern is occurring.

Our Approach to Mental Health Diagnosis

At The Center for Psychological Research and The Center for Family and Lifespan Development we provide comprehensive cognitive, academic, personality, and developmental evaluations. In the diagnosis process we also focus on identifying the many strengths an individual may present through our testing.  We then use this information to help patients understand how to better function socially, occupationally, and in daily living. We work extensively to assist families and individuals seeking:

Our diagnostic approach looks over the lifespan of the individual and uses multiple methods to collect information, including:

• Gathering background information
• Interviews with pertinent community members
• Record reviews
• Direct observation
• Clinical assessment measures

We approach all areas of functioning to address concerns related to mood, social skills, communication, repetitive behavior challenges, sensory sensitivities, learning, attention, and memory.
